Jinggangshan 2

In addition to the rays emanating from the hong taiyang, Jinggangshan is sometimes illuminated by the light of a single star located in the sky to the left of the mountain. This "star in the sky" motif is also used on badges that depict scenes that have no direct connection to Mao, and therefore probably represents the "spirit" of communism rather than Mao as the North Star. The fighting spirit of Jinggangshan is often evoked by the inclusion of one or more flags, but not the Three Red Flags of Socialist Construction.
