The varied properties of different plastics - rigidity, flexibility, transparency, opacity etc. - provided badge designers with a wide range of possibilities. For the most part, however, plastic Maozhang tended to be conservative in that they imitated the appearance of badges made of more traditional materials such as porcelain, bamboo or, as shown here, aluminium.
