Five stars

Five stars - one larger and four smaller - adorn the national flag and national emblem representing the unity of the Chinese people under the leadership of the CCP. The larger star is the CCP center and the smaller stars the four social classes - peasants, workers, urban petit bourgeoisie and national bourgeoisie as defined by Mao. The significance of a greater number of stars than five is unknown
